More Singapore style cuisine. Food lacked spice especially the sambal. Year of the rat decorations are still up (2020). The windowsill is dusty and could be cleaned better. The service was good the food came quickly. Hainan chicken was the star of the lunch. It was boneless, had a generous serving of sauce and was not dry at all! The teh tarik was a bit disappointing it was too milky and did not have the tea flavour I was craving. The belachan was very delicate and light. Lo see fun is not very common in restaurants so I was keen to try it, it was good although a bit one note if I was eating it by itself. Roti canai was delicate and crispy and the curry was thick and strong, a perfect pairing. Would revisit to try other dishes.
Being at Ultimo TAFE means closer to other places. Kopitiam on Harris Street for example. A friend of mine once recommended this place, or what this place used to be. Doesn’t matter - the curry chicken laksa is amazing!!! Meat falling off the bone chicken, worth the price even with inflation happening. And rustic to boot. Teh tarik also great 👍🏼
Great, no frills Malaysian food. Simple menu, authentic and so delicious.
Definitely want to come back and try the Fish Head Bee Hoon!
This is literally the best Malaysian/Singaporean Restaurant in Sydney. This is what I ordered:
- Hainanese Chicken Rice (Best in Sydney)
- Char Kuey Teow (Best in Sydney)
- Fish Head Beehoon
- Chef’s Special Bean Curd
The Chicken Rice is only available on weekend and they have a limited portion. I suggest you call and make reserve the chicken rice if you plan on coming.
The four menu that I ordered were all very delicious. You can’t go wrong with either one of them.
We ordered:
• Char Kuay Teow
• Hainanese Chicken Rice*
• Roti Canai
• Sago w Palm Sugar
*only available on weekends
Everything was really delicious but I’d definitely recommend Char Kuay Teow and Hainese Chicken Rice. The Sago was good but not a stand out as I’m not used to the taste of Palm Sugar.
The serving sizes were very reasonable - as was the price. Will definitely be coming back to try other menu items.
Lovely dining, really good home cooked deliciousness!
On this occasion I probably ordered too much chicken dishes eg
- Malaysian nasi lemak felt like curry chicken
- Roti came with curry (chicken) dip sauce
- Laksa chicken has the laksa and curry chicken
- Chicken with coconut rice
- Ice cendol (without green squiggly bits because it wasn't available) was delicious!
We will be back for the fish head be hoon noodles, stir fired dishes and non-chicken creations!
The satay chicken skewers and roti at this Singaporean restaurant were delicious! The ambiance closely resembles the style of down-to-earth eateries in Singapore. The distinctive touch of hanging red lanterns adds a lot of character to the place.
This place was fantastic. I am so glad I stumbled upon this place. Food was delicious, service was fast, friendly and accommodating and we were in an out in less than 30 minutes. I'll be back many times now I've discovered the place.
